captaining UVM Rugby to top 6 in the country, split jerked 255 once, all state soccer in highschool
Recently doing the Strict Pull Up Biathalon workout was a huge milestone. When I started Crossfit I could do 1 strict pull up. Being able to link sets of 5 for that many was honestly not a workout I would have expected to be able to do RX when I started. Strict pulling is still a weakness, but that was a nice reminder of progress.
I also think a strength of mine is being able to maintain output and suffer for a while.

I grew up doing both team and solo sports; soccer, rugby, ski racing, mountain biking, climbing. As I've gotten older my overarching fitness goal is to be able to do any sport and not have my fitness be a limiting factor. Playing tennis or pickle ball? sure. Filling in for cooed soccer? No prob bob.
I think my 'enemy' is the voice in your head telling you to slow down when things get hard in a work out, or to sit on the couch because you're sore. It's easy to tell yourself you've worked hard enough or deserve a break. My dad, while coaching a rugby team I was on, said something to the effect of 'If you're slow, you have to be able to work harder'. I was very slow, but there was no limit on my effort, and I think that stands true today.
I love seeing members find a new level to push themselves to. Whether thats in consistency, hitting a pace they didn't think was sustainable, or hit a lift they were skeptical of, seeing them get through that mental barrier is the best.
